We have yet another exciting Film Festival announcement to make!
We’re thrilled to announce that our first two Price of Kings films have been selected to screen at the 15th annual 1001 Documentary Film Festival in Istanbul, Turkey at the end of the month.
Since 1997, the 1001 Documentary Film Festival has screened hundreds of documentary films from Turkey and all around the world.
Our films will be screening on the following dates and times:
Sept 28th: 21.30 (TARIK ZAFER TİYATRO SALONU)
Oct 2nd: 19.20 (TARIK ZAFER TİYATRO SALONU)
Sept 28th: 20.00 (TARIK ZAFER TİYATRO SALONU)
Oct 2nd: 21.00 (TARIK ZAFER TİYATRO SALONU)
Our Arafat documentary will be up against tough competition in the Documentary Film award category, which features 22 other feature and short documentaries from around the world.
The festival, which has been running since 2005, is organized by the NGO No Borders Iraqi Cinematographers, an independent, non-governmental cinema association.
Last year, the festival's director Taher Alwan, emphasized the cultural importance of the film festival for the Iraqi people:
“This festival will stimulate cultural life in Iraq, and we will try to restore the culture of cinema in Iraq. As you know, after (the U.S.-led invasion of) 2003, everything was closed – the cinemas were closed, there was no cinema activity, so Iraqis felt isolated from the world.”
The festival will run from the 3rd to 7th October 2012. Stay tuned for further information...
